a Musical Solo written and performed by Jürg Kienberger
Der Jürg Kienberger, a Swiss actor and one of Christoph Marthaler's long-time theatre companions, has created a wonderful "musical solo" about his own childhood in a family-run hotel "Waldhaus" in Sils-Maria in the Alps. Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse and Gustav Mahler used to stay there, and Claude Chabrol chose it as film location for his movie "Rien ne va plus". Kienberger describes his growing-up amongst the hotel orchestra, bored guests und genuine Engadine nut cakes - a magic moment of both witty and charming theatrical reduction.
