Xavier Grall (1930-1981) is one of the most famous
Breton writers but he is relatively unknown outside France.
He was also a journalist and a novelist and even almost 25 years
after his death, the wonderful quality of his romantic poetry
cannot be missed. The great Rimbaud was Grall’s idol and
he used to call himself “the son of the sun”.
Director Yves Moraud and actor Jean-Marc Serme adapted Grall’s
last poems, Solo and Genèse, for the stage. Grall’s
lyrical testament is a hymn to Brittany, to its nature, the
sea, and the harbors. The beauty of the region is being praised
by the man who deeply loved it and who knew that his time was
running out.
The show offers an excellent combination of musical, theatrical
and cinematographic elements, and is presented in cooperation
with Centre Culturel Francais de Kiel, Association Brest-Jumelages
and Deutsch-Französische Gesellschaft e.V.
