SHORTS:
AN ENCYCLOPEDIA OF TRAGIC ATTITUDES
Lindy Annis USA/Germany
Lindy Annis' five short performances present an
abridged history of the tragedy from its roots in the
classical Greek theatre, through the milestones of the American
and Russian classics of the genre, up to the artist's own biography:
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF TRAGIC ATTITUDES ("with the virtual presence
of Xavier Le Roy"), Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN, LAZY
LEGS (music: Frieder Butzman, text: Diana R., Maya S., Shannon
M., Charlotte R., Tina S., Lindy A.), AUERBACH'S KELLER (Text:
Lindy Annis, inspired by Goethe's FAUST), and Anton CheckhovÕs
THE CHERRY ORCHARD. These five compact miniatures are a logical
continuation of Lindy Annis' stage work. Since her arrival in
Berlin in 1985, she produced over 50 performances, most of them
one-actor plays, all in very simple English, and none of them
longer than a Tom & Jerry cartoon.
