THE
WAR AND WHAT FOLLOWED
Dorian Rossel Switzerland/France In 1956,
as a 59 year-old man, Louis Aragon remembered an experience
from the WWI. As a young soldier, he marched through a cemetery
and found his own name on a hastily erected white cross on a
new grave. This episode initiated the poems cycle LA GUERRE
ET CE QUI S'EN SUIVIT. Dorian Rossel, a young Swiss actor presents
a fascinating poetic performance based on Louis Aragon's war
poetry. Among dozens of candles burning in the memory of fallen
soldiers, he tells us about the grandeur of life, severe truth
of death, cruelty of war and lost expectations. His approach
to these universal themes is very personal, moderate and honest,
deprived of false emotions.
