Carla Bessa -Germany/Brazil Waltz No. 6 is the first solo-production of the young Brazilian actress who has lived and worked in Germany since 1991. The performance is based on a story by a Brazilian playwright Nelson Rodrigues about an adolescent girl, Sonia, whose reaction to her changing body and symptoms of sexual maturing resolves into a total rejection. She resorts to a dream world with no spatial or temporal points of reference to the reality. In Carla Bessa’s interpretation, Rodrigues’ text intertwines with myths about the origin of the moon taken from various cultures.
